Pure, old-fashioned maple syrup produced at Camp Tuscazoar

More than a century ago, Camp Tuscazoar was created as a Boy Scout camp by scouts and leaders who recognized that the beauty and history of the land offered a valuable place for boys to learn, grow, and become young men. Now, as a non-profit group, the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation, Inc. owns and operates the property in much the same way, for the same reasons. The camp is open to the public, and you are always welcome to enjoy our camp from dawn to dusk every day.

The Camp Tuscazoar Foundation is comprised of dedicated volunteers, many of whom were scouts or scout leaders who camped at Camp Tuscaozar. We donate our time to maintain the camp and its facilities so more children, like us, can grow here and carry the lessons on into life. As one of our sources of income, we now produce pure, old-fashioned maple syrup from the more than 600 acres of trees on our property.

In addition to the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market, you can also find our syrup at the Jackson Township Market held Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00pm as well as at our camp museum, which is open Saturdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm or by appointment by calling 330-859-2288.

2023 is my 20th year doing farmers markets. My family has been located in the beautiful Crooked Run Valley for approximately 220 years producing food and shelter for others. We were recruited to sell our farm-produced products at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market, and all of my family has sacrificed and worked hard to help the TVFM succeed. Our family sees the TVFM as a great value to Tuscarawas County. It’s a beautiful day in the valley!

We use a lot of compost and cover crops and other natural amendments on our fields. We also soil test to see what nutrients our soil needs. We are not certified organic but use the integrated pest management program to spray only where needed. We also use tomato hot houses for earlier tomatoes. In addition to the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market, you can also find our products at Fresh the Market, the Shaker Square Market, the Crocker Park Market in Westlake, and the Wooster Farmers Market.
