The Tuscarawas Valley Food Hub Initiative is a program developed by the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market to connect local institutions like restaurants and healthcare facilities with fresh, local produce. One of the goals of the TVFM is to strengthen our local food economy by encouraging a partnership between buyers and growers of local farm products that benefits consumers and producers, and the Food Hub does just that! The restaurants and others who participate call the farmers directly to place their weekly order, then the farmers bring the orders to the market on Wednesday, and participants pick them up with assistance from market volunteers. It’s that simple! Because the farmers who participate in the Food Hub are able to offer consistent pricing throughout the season, Food Hub participants can easily budget for their weekly menus to include fresh, local produce.
